Being a busy student I find it difficult to always stay on top at keeping my apartment nice and organized. Here are a few tips I follow, to keep my apartment and life clutter free:
1: Clean up after yourself: you know that glass of water you put by your bed when you go to sleep? Have you noticed how they never make it back to the kitchen, but keep piling up at nightstand? At least I do. Before I would have 10 cups and a few plates in my bedroom, and the more things in my room the more things I got in my head. In order to keep your head focus, keep your room clean. If you use a cup, wash it up. If you spill makeup on the bathroom sink wipe it off. If you break something FIX IT! There is nothing more annoying than a roommate who keeps leaving stuff everywhere, so dont be that roommate.
2: keep a planner: or a journal or a calendar or at least something that can keep track of things you need to do, because believe me your head is not always doing it for you. You can download hundreds of apps online for your phone, computer, ipad, or you can by a nice planner online. Google also have a nice calendar that I sometimes use.
3: Color-code I am 100% sure I have mentioned this before, but color-code your school stuff. Red for math, blue for astronomy, green for biology etc. Buying a folder and a notebook in the same matching color makes things a little easier when you wish to have a organized life or stop bringing the wrong notebook to class because believe me it is very annoying to have your biology notes in 5 different notebooks..
4: Evernote: My absolute lifesaver! Its a program that allow you to keep record of everything. Every to do list, every article you wish to keep, pictures, school notes etc. best of all: It puts it online for you so you can access all your notes on any computer! Just google the name and it will pop up.
5: structure your everyday: Wake up, breakfast, exercise, school, lunch, school, homework, home, dinner, bed. Make a plan on how you do things. Structuring your life makes it easier for you to actually doing what you are suppose to, if you each day ut off three hours to homework you are more likely to actually do your homework. In addition I have to add that its a good idea to find out which part of the day you are the most focused. I am the most focused in the morning so I like to wake up early and do my homework, that way I always get it done.
That was a few tips, I am sure more is coming!
I am adding a weekly cleaning sheet:
